The Big Island

Dan and I were able to go to the Big Island for a weekend alone with the help of my sister Holly who stayed with the kids. As much as I love the kids, I have to admit it was fabulous! We hiked all day long in Volcano National Park with the pinnacle being our hike out to see the lava flowing into the ocean. What an amazing site. The next day we were able to go to Kealakakua bay where Captain Cook was killed. There is amazing snorkeling there and we kayaked too. It was a wonderful weekend and so rejuvenating. I look forward to the days when Dan will finally have some more time off. I guess that is still in the pretty distant future so I shouldn't get to wistful yet. Nevertheless, I feel so grateful for this opportunity we have had to leave here and see so many of the islands. Hawaii is so much more to me now than sandy beaches. I can honestly say I love this place and the people who live here. We will miss Hawaii!!
