Tales from the Crypt...

So, it has been a rough week since closing on the house on Friday. I write this from a hotel room where I am holed up with two very croupy children (well mostly one, Grace has mostly recovered.) Things started out well as we started moving in and cleaning and painting. We were slow with two kids, but progress was being made. Then we hit a snag.

Long story short, our bathroom is leaking into our basement and the floor boards are completely rotten. Two calls to the plumber later he still hadn't diagnosed the problem correctly and Dan, inexplicably decides he is going to fix it himself. So he and his dad set to work and low and behold while pulling up the tiles discover asbestos! Yaay. So, bathroom-less and and a little nervous we head out to a hotel.

So here we are. Dan and his Dad bought bio-terrorist masks and are trying to clear things out. Meanwhile, they discover there is a pipe leaking that the plumber didn't find and are now trying to figure out what to do about that...ahhh! Old houses are quickly losing their charm.

To top it all off, Grace starts pre-school tommorow. Currently I don't have clothes, shoes, book-bag, lunch, or the haircut she so desperately needs. So much for having her room all painted and her all settled before school. What a mess!

Hopefully I will have pictures and better news the next time I post.

Sounds a bit like a nightmare. Just try to think of it as an adventure... and at least you don't have to make your beds, clean the toilet, or wash your sheets for a bit! I'm sorry you have to go through this. What a way to start home ownership!

Heather! I'm so sorry! That sounds absolutely awful. I just can't imagine it. Hope everything gets worked out soon. You will make it through, but rough in the meantime.

House woes, we know about house woes. Hold on tight so that you can laugh looking back at it.
