If it's not one thing...it's another.

Yesterday we finally had some good weather. So after a grueling midwife appointment (grueling because both kids were in tow) we headed to the park with some friends. The kids were all having a great time and playing so well together. Davie was loving the slide and going down like a madman. Unfortunately, all did not end well. On one of his many trips down the slide David flew into the air (great height, not great distance) and came down on the back of his head. I ran to get him and his nose started bleeding. I kept asking myself, and Heidi, if he had hit his nose too, but I hadn't seen that. Then he started walking around kind of funny and bending over like he was going to throw up. I paged Dan and he told me to take him to the ER. On the way over he threw up in the car. Definately not a good sign. When we got there they took him into triage to check his vitals, etc. The nurse took of his diaper to take a rectal temp and, of course, he was poopy. I was so embarrased. Then they took us back to our room...or I should say bed in a hallway. We were right across from the nurse's station and they were all ohhing and ahhing over him. This perked him up, as David is a notorious flirt. By the time we finally got in to see someone he seemed to be doing better. It turns out he did have a concussion, but they decided not to put him through the trauma of a CT scan because they would have had to sedate him. I was grateful for that. Plus, Dan was able to come down and hang out with us in the ER. Maybe we should get more injuries. :) Thank goodness for Heidi. She took Grace while I took David. She even made us dinner and a delicious dessert. Thanks Heidi...you saved the day. David is doing much better today, and barring future bruising (which indicates a skull fracture) I think we are happily on the mend.
Now if only I could have an uneventful day to get some things done!

How scary! Isn't it funny how the first thing we think of is to call Daddy. There have been a few times that I have been VERY grateful I haven't had to go it alone. Good to know he's doing alright now!

Poor David! I'm glad to hear he's all right. Nothing will scare a mother half to death than watching her child become sick or hurt! Here's hoping to no bruising!

Holy crap, that is so scary!!! It sounds like you kept your cool, I can only imagine how hard that would be when your little one is hurt.

I am so happy he is on the mend.

Sounds like this boy has lots of adventures he likes to take you on. Between this and your fireman experience I would say you are making some big memories

Oh my goodness Heather! I'm so sorry... how awful. I'm so glad he's ok. I CONSTANTLY worry about that with Dane because he is such a climber and loves to run away from me. I'm just sure he is going to hurt himself badly enough for an ER visit one of these days soon.

Oh- by the way, LOVE your new bedroom- yeah for you guys! I'm so glad it's finished before the babe is here.
