First Snow

Days like the first snow of the season remind me why it is good to have kids. In my old age I have started to hate winter. I'm too broke to ski, and often too pregnant to go sledding. I hate driving in the stuff, and I hate being cold. I really have come to believe that I have no use for winter. That is, until I see the wonder and excitement on my children's faces when they wake up to a day covered in white. It was so fun to watch them discover snow angels, snow men, and snowball fights. We tackled Dan, chased each other around the yard, and made a snowman, covered in leaves. It was refreshing to watch a child discover the delight of getting cold and wet when it means you are having fun. We enjoyed hot chocolate...the best part of playing in the snow, and that snuggly feeling you get on a day when its cold outside and warm inside. So thanks to my kids for reminding me that sometimes winter really isn't all that bad.

It snowed here this week also and E was dying to go out and make a snow angel. She loves them!

I'm with you. Especially after last year's winter. Oy. I'm looking forward to the storms before Christmas but not so much after.

so I guess I better start having kids asap. Winter is the worst!

But your kids are super cute!

Great Snowman Gracie and David - the leaves will just keep him extra warm! We had our first snowstorm also but I didn't get a snowman made so thanks for sharing yours through pictures, and cute pictures at that. I miss you all so much.

Your kids are adorable. We wish we could make snowmen. I guess sandmen will have to do. Pearce has only seen snow one time for an hour. Poor kid. The grass is always greener on the other side.

See, I'm out here in California totally missing the snow but as I was lamenting that fact to John the other day he pointed out some of the same things you did - cold, driving in the snow, bundling kids up, etc. I guess since I only get to dream about it I'll keep imagining that I would love it!

I can't believe you guys got a snowman out of that storm...it must have skipped over Whitney Towers! :) Maybe we can come over after the weekend's storms to build a snowman with you...Olivia would go crazy! So fun to see them get excited isn't it?!
