New Haven Road Race

On Labor Day I ran in my first ever official race. I ran the 5k in the New Haven Road Race. It was a HUGE event with thousands of people participating. A lot of people from my ward did it as well and I had so much fun. I will be doing this again for sure.

Here I am with the kids. I was trying to nurse Charlotte right before the race for both my sake and hers.

Me and some of my friends from the ward I have been running with. Way to go ladies!!

My cheering squad. Thanks Dan and kids.

A lovely shot right after finishing. Dan missed me crossing the finish line. He was understandably distracted by the woman projectile vomiting right next to me. Lovely.

After the race there was a festival going on. Here is Grace going down the big slide. David wasn't feeling well, so he wasn't really into all the toys they had to play on. Poor boy.

Way to go, Heather! I'm proud of you. Also, I just loved the picture of Dan and the kids. Priceless... what a good little supporting cast! I actually have a goal to run a 5k race, too. It's not until after the first of the year, though, so I have way to long to procrastinate getting ready. :-)

Way to go Heather. I totally understand the nursing before the race. I just did a little triathlon and definetly got some nursing in right before the race - a necessity!

Heather, hi! You're amazing-- I could never run a marathon! So I just realized you guys live in New Haven, right :) Jason's brother and his wife live there too... you'd love them... maybe we should set you all up on a friend date :)

Wow, I'm so impressed with your race! Are you going to Utah soon? Hope you have a happy birthday if I can't get a hold of you on Friday.

You're starting out with a bang, this race and the tri in a couple weeks. Wow! You go girl. Nate especially loves Char's quizzical expression, "Wait, I'm not finished". Can't wait to see you, perhaps you'll light the fire in my exercise routine.
