Plea for Help!
So we have been potty training our little Davie, and for the most part we have been very impressed with how well he is doing. Number 1 is great. He only very rarely has an accident, he is very conscientious about keeping it in the potty and loves to wash his hands. Number 2 is a whole different story. Just when I think we have a breakthrough, he poops in his pants again. Grace did not have this issue. How do I help him?! Any stories from the trenches you could pass on so that I can help David (and me and Dan?)

HAHAHA! I suck at potty training and I am totally dreading it with Korbin! My mom says "Boys are the hardest and so bull headed, NOTHING works with them." So positive words...I have none! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're potty training Cooper right now too. Isn't it fun?! All I have to say is BRIBE, BRIBE, BRIBE!!
Um can't help ya honey. Katelyn isn't interested in the potty yet... I heard a funny story of throwing cheerios in the potty and telling little boys to sink them with their hose but I am not sure that would have the same effect with poop. Good luck and keep us posted on what works!
yes, lewis did this, but just for about 2 weeks, and then he was over it. but yes BRIBERY is our friend, he wanted a certain train (Gordon) and I left him on the top of fridge, visible in the new package...and I told Lewis as soon as he went #2 on the potty for several days and NOT in his pants, he could have Gordon, and it worked!!!

The only thing that worked for James was to go naked. I never wanted to do it, it sounds so third world or something, but it worked. When he didn't have underwear on, he'd go to the toilet.
I feel for you. That was exactly the problem we had with Tyler (and you know that almost caused us to go to counseling). Bribery did not work for him. Laxatives did not work--yes we tried. I think what finally made Tyler realize he had to go #2 was the fact he was going to pre-school and I wouldn't be around. Maybe as school gets closer Davie will come around.
Heather - great to hear from you. We are an hour east of New Haven in Gales Ferry (close to New London). We've been in CT for about 18 months - Chad is a botany professor at Connecticut College.
On the potty training issue I can only advocate patience and creativity. We haven't had #2 issues in our family, but I've had friends with kids who have pretty serious #2 paranoia. My overall potty training philosophy is wait for the right time, create some motivation, but don't create any negative pressure. Good luck!
I'm no help. Emma's 4 1/2 and we're still having issues.
All I know is that our doctor said to go cold turkey, no pullups EVER, at night or anything. Things got MUCH better after that. Still not perfect, but still much better.
