Happy Birthday Dan!

Dan turned the big 3-0 on the 16th. Of course, his life and schedule was crazy and so we found it hard to celebrate properly. All in all though, I think/hope it turned out to be a pretty good birthday. We started out with a delicious shortcake made by Annie a few days before they headed back to Utah. Father's day followed. That day wasn't great, so we won't dwell on it. The long and short is Dan had to do some surgeries and so he didn't make it home for his dinner until the kids were in bed. Moving on. The next day was his actual birthday. We took a cake into his work and then took him out for Japanese Hibachi that night. The kids had so much fun and ate so much food. It was hilarious. Yesterday we had a party with some neighbors and friends from the ward. Thanks to everyone for coming to help us celebrate.

Here is Dan with his cake. This is identical to the one I took into his work on Monday. If you find something that works, why switch it up? The cake is sitting on his present. It is a gas firepit for roasting smores, etc. Now we can camp in the backyard :)

Here is a picture of the gift our friends Nate and Kylie brought Dan. For those of you who don't know, Dan bikes to work on the funniest bike you will ever see. It folds in half, for storing convenience and looks a bit like it belongs in the circus. What are you going to do?! So Nate and Kylie kindly provided him with a bike flag. I think it will go along perfectly, don't you?

Dan and David at the hibachi place. Yum! They especially loved the shrimp and scallops. Good to know. Dan and I ordered different things so we could share and try it all. Whenever I would lean over to pass something to Dan, David would reach over and snatch it if Dan wasn't fast enough. You have to be quick around here.

David and Grace loving the watermelon at the party. David was two fisting it for a while there. I think they ate half the bowl.

A picture of my hardworking husband. I had to include this because I am beyond grateful for how hard Dan has worked on this house. I know that remodeling a house and a yard (complete with poison ivy) is not exactly high on the list of things you want to do while going through a grueling residency, but Dan has done it to try to make things better for me and the kids during these four years. Even as a mom of a brand new baby, I can't fathom how tired he must be all the time and how he functions on so little sleep. Dan is amazing!! He does it all with no complaint and a smile on his face. I think I won the jackpot when I married this man and I am realizing it more and more each day. Dan is incredibly patient and kind, the best friend I have ever had, and an incredible father. I love watching him with our kids. I have never seen anyone just enjoy their kids the way he does. So anyway, thanks babe...I love you!

Happy Birthday, Dan!

I thought you had weeded the nerdy out of him, Heather ;) Where ever did he find a bike that folds in half? Dave's bike is purple and pink....his parents always wonder why he never uses it.

That is so funny about his bike. John has talked about biking to work too, I'll have to tell him about Dan. Happy Birthday to him by the way. That is so nice that some of your family could come visit.

Wish Dan a Happy Birthday from us! Can't wait to see you in September. By the way...don't feel guilty about not blogging with three under foot. It just can't be done at all the right times. This update was good enough for me!

we all know DAN is so awesome and I really don't know how he does it all especially with being a resident and hooray for the first year almost done! That cake you made looks absolutely divine, and I love that you made it twice, what a sweetie!

Happy Birthday DAN! I don't think anyone can write bad things about your bike - you drove a Festiva :) Hope you had a great Birthday! We all did a laser tag party for my 30. Brought us all back to paintball days.
