Random Rant

What is up with...

Strangers in grocery stores who think it is any of their business what you do with your children. Now, maybe I am a bad mom, but I get comments on a regular basis. Seriously. Sometimes I hate people. Random sampling:

I was at the store with my THREE children trying to get everyone settled. Charlotte is in a carseat at my feet and David is kicking and screaming as I try to dislodge a cart so that I can then strap him into it and thereby make him mostly imobile during our hellish shopping expedition. In the midst of the madness a man taps me on my shoulder and asks if he can give me some advice. Despite the fact that my exasperated look told him please no, he continued. He told me that I had a beautiful baby and that I shouldn't turn my back on her for even a second. WTF?! Her carseat was touching my foot. If he really wanted to help me he could have disloged the cart that was stuck so that I could get my kids into it and move on with my life. I clearly didn't need a distraction right then. Furthermore I am always suspicious of people who comment on baby-snatching. Are they baby-snatchers, since clearly this is where their mind is dwelling?

I have also had people ask me if I plan on having more kids. Why? Because I can't control the ones I have? Since when was family planning a polite discussion at the grocery store?

Don't even get me started on the looks people give me when I am in line at the pharmacy to get my birth control prescription refilled with the three kids in tow.

Speaking of that, why don't doctors just give you a year supply. Why should I have to pick it up every month. Trust me, I am not going to change my mind.

Perhaps I need to shop somewhere else.

AMEN!!!!!
Yes, getting "advice" from people instead of help-- always a joy. Thanks for that rant. I totally sympathize!

I can't people have been so rude to you. How crazy. My favorite rude person question is "Twins? Did you conceive them naturally?" Yep, there really are people out there who ask me that.

THE NERVE! This is the kind of thing that keeps me at home with the kids, and running errands on my own or with Josh to help... whenever possible. Josh was just complaining today about having to run errands with me. But hey... two parents are better than one, and I refuse to drag THREE kids around day after day, all on my own. I am sorry this happened to you, but you are NOT a bad mom... and your kids are beautiful, by the way.

EWE! Welcome to New England. Reason number 4 why I want to go back to Washington.

Not kidding, it's actually on my list. "I hate it that people think I'm insane for having more kids"

When I was preg with Spencer EVERY single person who asked how many kids he made, they followed it up with "So your done, right?"

We know your a great mother! but what is this I hear about birth control...I thought it was non-stop till age 30??? Try mail order prescriptions you can usually get 90 days worth, 2 less possible encounters with idiots can't hurt anyone.

Oh Please Heather! You are such a wonderful mother!!!! I think people can be sooo rude. Who are they to give you parenting comments...it is BS if you ask me. Walk a day in my shoes then you can say something. If you dont know me then shut the crap up! I LOVE you!

Yaaaaah....I love random advice. I think we should get points for not snapping back at people. Maybe I'll come up with a system. ;)

You should no better than anyone else that you have my empathy. LAMOS!!! That's what they all are. We should start making up crazy "lifetime original movie" type stories to make us look even weirder and then no one will ever bug us or better yet, think we truly are psychos. Or turn us in to CPS.

"Are they all yours?"
"Yep"
"All boys?"
"Yep"
"Bet you wish that last one was a girl."
The nerve!!!
I hear ya Heather, but never doubt that you're a great mom.

Haha, this post cracks me up because it is so true. I'm sure that guy was probably related to the person driving the car in New Haven who hit a senior citizen and drove off, or maybe to the 20 people who watched it happen and kept walking. Don't worry though, you really are a good mom!

Way to go for not belting him in his nose, Heath! I am not so sure I could have refrained. Oops, my toddlers weight threw my balance off. Deep breaths. Man I can't believe you have managed with 3 at the grocery store. You never cease to amaze me. I get enough looks with Katelyn strapped in and Sarah's seat down in the cart. Nate is now officially our grocery shopper.
